About Course

Improv is the best artform to exist in the universe. It’s not just an opinion, it’s an actual scientific fact. Not only will students learn this ancient, dynamic method of creating characters, spaces, and scenes, they’ll work towards reaching a higher level of zen and enlightenment.

In the Introduction class, students will learn the basics of Improv. Starting with the most important idea, “Yes, And” in Week One. Learning to affirm our scene partner’s offers and heighten scenes, “Yes, And” is the foundation of all great improv.

Week Two focuses on “Awareness.” Improv is about physically, intellectually, and emotionally living in a scene. Students must be fully aware of their scene partner’s actions and words as well as their own. This week will focus on creating mental connections to build stronger awareness between performers.

In Week Three, students will begin to study “Space and Object Work.” That’s right! In Improv we use our minds for everything. Week Three focuses on students building the world around them and all the objects within this world they may interact with.

In the final week of the Introduction course, students will work on “Characters.” Improv is about dynamic play and allowing the performer to become anything! Yes, anything! Students will explore emotions, other living creatures, and even static objects, creating entirely new personalities.

Heather Dragulescu is ready to make you laugh! Or cry, or shrug with indifference… Descended from a Korean tiger mom and an American TV writer dad, she grew up as a latchkey kid in the San Fernando Valley of the 80’s and 90’s. Her three kids adopted from foster care (yes, she’s amazing) keep her busy and at her wits’ end. Thankfully, she has her annoyingly near-perfect husband Bobby to help her out.

As a comedy aficionado, Heather loves to take to the stage and screen to entertain audiences. You may have seen her in Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers or in numerous national commercials. If you prefer to see her live and sweaty, come see her perform with ComedySportz Las Vegas as Pro Player as well as in numerous comedy clubs around the nation.
